Spring has sprung which means it’s time for a refresh! To mark the official start of the season, spruce up your space with a spring clean and fresh new decor.

The days are getting longer, the daffodils are in bloom, and the lambs are beginning to leap. It can only mean one thing: the arrival of spring. So, to kick off the new season in the right way, what better excuse for a good old-fashioned spring clean in your bedroom?

Whether you’re looking to transform your bedroom into a blooming springlike haven or simply want to make a few small updates to reflect the optimistic new season, we’ve got some spring bedroom ideas for you. Plus, in this guide, we’ll also share our easy-to-follow practical tips for de-cluttering your bedroom and giving your sleeping space a proper spring clean.

Ready to bring in the new season? Let’s hop to it.

Why do we use spring to freshen up our spaces?

Spring cleaning is an age-long ritual. While winter is most associated with rest and hibernation, spring is all about rebirth, hope, and new beginnings.

Not only do we move our clocks forward in spring and the days start to become longer, but the weather tends to be better and we generally all start to feel more energised. Naturally, cleaning lends itself nicely to this feeling of fresh starts and so, the annual tradition of resetting our homes with a spring clean was born.

It’s not just about getting rid of any unwanted mess and dust (though this is definitely an advantage!). There’s a whole wealth of benefits that come with a proper deep clean. When we refresh our homes, we can improve our moods, bringing in a sense of optimism, and opening up a space; both physically and symbolically for a new beginning.

Spring cleaning tips for your bedroom

So, if you’re feeling inspired to give your bedroom a spring clean this month, here are our five top tips on blowing the cobwebs away!

1. Time for a declutter

First and foremost, it’s time to declutter your bedroom. After all, it’s pretty tricky doing a deep clean when you have stuff everywhere. Our top tip is to start with the surfaces you use the most, such as your bedside tables and dresser, then move on to reorganising your wardrobe and drawers.

If you’re a bit of a hoarder, it might be wise to take a leaf out of Marie Kondo’s book, and follow her “spark joy” method – if the item doesn’t spark joy for you, get rid of it! It may be difficult, but you’ll probably feel a lot better going to sleep in a calmer, de-cluttered space.

Top tip: If you’re tight on space and find yourself constantly surrounded by a never-ending mess, consider upgrading to a storage bed or ottoman bed frame. This way, you can cleverly conceal your belongings and reach for them only when you need them.

2. Dust and polish your surfaces

Next, you’ll want to grab your duster and get to work. Start with a dry duster cloth or feather duster to remove the initial dirt and then go in with a damp cloth and spray your product directly onto the cloth before wiping down surfaces. This way, you’ll avoid spraying onto any undesired areas like the walls or carpet.

No cutting corners! Now is the time to get into those difficult nooks and crannies that you’ve been ignoring for who knows how long. We’re talking in between the blinds, behind furniture, on top of picture frames, and along skirting boards.

3Clean your larger furniture

Have you thought about your furniture? Upholstered beds, armchairs and sofas all deserve the spring clean treatment, too.

Be sure to check the care instructions before cleaning any specialist fabrics. For hardier upholstery, start by vacuuming the fabric to remove any surface dirt. Then, add some fabric detergent or dish soap to lukewarm water. Grab a clean cloth and gently work the solution into the material, one bit at a time. You can also use a spring-scented fabric spray to give large furniture a regular spritz and refresh. A voila!

4. Don’t forget about your windows!

Next, it’s time to pay some attention to your bedroom windows. Nobody wants to be looking out of streaky, finger-marked windows. For best results, spray a window cleaner solution directly onto the glass and use a microfibre cloth to clean away. Or, if you’re looking for a more natural solution, simply mix lukewarm water with white vinegar (and a few drops of dish soap) to cut through any tougher stains.

To finish, open your windows wide and let the fresh air flood in. Not only is this great for air circulation, but it can regulate the temperature of your bedroom and even improve your sleep if you keep them open come bedtime. Result!

5. Add a fresh lick of paint

Are some features in your bedroom looking a little tired? Sometimes, all you need is a fresh lick of paint to revitalise them and give them a new lease of life.

Whether it’s your bedroom door, walls, a wooden bed frame or chest of drawers that need a fresh coat, spring is an excellent time to give your furniture a little makeover. This way, you don’t have to invest in expensive pieces but still get that new purchase feeling.

If you’re not ready for a full refresh, it’s still a good idea to touch up any scuff marks from muddy winter boots or peeling corners of paintwork.

Top tip: If you’re unsure whether you’ve got the perfect colour match, make sure to do a patch test on a part that’s not going to be visible first. Better safe than sorry.

How to give your bedroom a spring makeover

Has the new season inspired you to indulge in a spring bedroom makeover? Here, we’ll share our top design tips from pretty pastel shades to beautiful springtime patterns to make the most of the fresh start.

Remember: You don’t need to undergo a full renovation job. Instead, opt for small, thoughtful updates to bring some springtime joy into your bedroom and embrace the season of change.

1. Brighten up with pastel shades

One of the easiest ways to freshen up your space for spring is through your colour palette. Springtime is synonymous with lighter, pastel shades such as light blue, lilac, baby pink, and mint green. Plus, the colour of the season, which is everywhere in SS25: butter yellow.

All these shades work wonderfully in bedrooms, thanks to their soft and delicate nature which promotes calmness. Plus, if you don’t fancy redecorating your walls, you could easily add some pastel accents around your room with items such as bedding, rugs, throw cushions and decorative ornaments.

2. Switch up your bedding with lightweight fabrics

As we move towards warmer days and nights, it’s time to shed the winter layers. This means packing away that thick duvet for another year and swapping for a lower, more breathable tog to see you through the spring and summer months.

When it comes to bedding, we’d recommend starting with crisp white bed linen for a breath of fresh air. Opt for thinner, lightweight throws instead of your chunky knitted winter blankets, and finish with some beautiful pastel throw cushions to tie in with the spring season.

3. Introduce some spring patterns

There are so many beautiful patterns that go hand in hand with spring. First, and most obviously, we have florals. Choose from cute, ditsy floral printed bedding to large abstract flowery patterns, there are endless choices to add some feminine blossoms to your space.

We also love stripes and gingham in the springtime. These patterns look especially good when mix-and-matched together, for an eclectic cottagecore effect.

4. Rearrange your furniture for a new look

In the spirit of only making updates where necessary, why not use spring as an opportunity for a bit of furniture rearranging? This way, you can feel like you’ve got a whole new bedroom without having to make any big purchases.

Shuffle around your main pieces like your bed, wardrobe, and any storage units, and see what magic you can unlock. You could even have some fun with it and lean into Feng Shui to start the new season off with good energy…

5. Add some fresh florals and greenery

Adding fresh flowers and plants is a fantastic way to breathe some life into your bedroom for the new season. Perhaps treat yourself to a new vase to sit on your bedside table or dresser, and you can switch up your florals each week. We love tulips for a pop of colour!

Alternatively, consider some low-maintenance greenery such as a snake plant, monstera, aloe vera, cacti or succulents.
