Choosing the right storage bed for your bedroom

The first step to finding the storage solution best suited to your room is to think about what type of storage you want. Available options include:

• Ottoman beds: These storage beds lift at the base, either on the side or the end of the bed, to reveal under-bed storage. Some can be heavy to lift, so these beds feature a hydraulic mechanism to help.
• Drawers: Storage beds with drawers, also known as divan bases, are more accessible for daily use. You can choose from 1-4 drawers, including options with drawers on either side of the bed. Note that you’ll need to allow for room to make sure the drawers can open fully.
• Built-in drawers and shelves: Day beds have built-in drawers and shelves, perfect for keeping guest rooms or home offices tidy while providing discreet storage.
• Storage beds with TVs: These innovative beds have a lift-up base for under-bed storage and a TV built into the foot of the bed. They're ideal for lazy Sunday mornings when you’re binge-watching your favourite show.
• Storage beds for kids: Bunk beds, cabin beds and high sleepers are popular types of storage beds for kids. These space-saving frames are designed to keep their room neat and tidy, featuring shelving, storage compartments, and even integrated wardrobes.

How much storage does a storage bed provide?

This depends on the type and size you get, however, for maximum space, lift-up ottomans will give you the most storage room. These beds are typically 20cm deep and the same length and width as your mattress. Storage beds with drawers offer less space, providing a more limited area rather than access to the whole area beneath your mattress.

Will a storage bed fit in my home?

When choosing a size for your storage bed, remember that it’s important to account for extra space required for access for both lift-up ottoman beds and divans with drawers. Our storage bed sizes are:

• Small single beds with storage: 75cm x 190cm
• Single beds with storge: 90cm x200cm
• Small double storage beds: 120cm x 190cm
• Double beds with storage: 135cm x 190cm
• King-size storage beds: 200cm x 150cm
• Super king storage beds: 180cm x 200cm

If you choose an ottoman bed, you'll need around 18-30 inches clearance at the foot or side of the bed for easy lifting, depending on the bed size and orientation of the mechanic.
